Research Booklet: Elaine Lustig Cohen
In this project, students were asked to select an influential graphic designer and create a research booklet about their life, career, and influence on the world of graphic design today. The style and presentation of the booklet was to also represent the chosen designer. I chose Elaine Lustig Cohen because of her modern aesthetic and unique approach to typography.
Final Booklet
In my booklet, I chose my color palette based off colors that Cohen frequently used in her designs which are scattered throughout the pamphlet. Elaine Lustig Cohen pushed the boundaries of design and greatly contributed to the International Style. I created a color block column along the spine of my booklet as the main graphical element to represent Elaine, inspired by her use of shape and line. I chose the font Bauhaus for my headers and sub-heads since she was influential to the International Style that was born out of the Bauhaus school of design. For my main paragraph text I chose the font Century Gothic for its modern, geometrical, sans-serif look.
